Origin/meaning
The above arms were officially granted on September 7, 1928.
The lion is the lion of the Overstraeten family. The estate of Welden was bought in 1715 by Nicolaas van Overstraeten, and his family owned the village until 1793. St. Martin is the local patron saint.
The previous arms were granted on August 4, 1818.
These arms only showed the patron saint.
