Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 21, 1973.

The three-topped mountain in the base is a canting element, -hövel, or hill. The entrance of a mine and the tools in the hill symbolise the importance of mining in the area since the 16th century. The hazel branch in the upper part of the arms is derived from the arms of Amt Hasselinghausen.
