ELLEZELLES
Province : Hainaut
Additions : 1977 Lahamaide, Wodecq
Official blazon
Gironné d'or et de gueules de huit pièces, chaque giron du second chargé d'une m6acle du premier, à un écusson d'or à la hamaide de gueules posé en abîme.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on January 6, 1992.
The division of the shield refers to the local windmills, typical landmarks for the area. The diamonds are taken from the arms of the Rohan family, Lords of La Hamaide in the 15th century. The inescutcheon shows the former (non-official) arms of Lahamaide.
