Origin/meaning
The local council did not have their own historical seals, and none of the arms of former Lords of the village could be used.
On February 12,1967 the council decided to adopt arms, which were the arms of Tielt, but with the local patron saint, St. Mary behind the shield. However, these arms were never officially approved by the Flemish High Court of Nobility, or the Flemish Heraldic Council.
The arms have been used unofficially, as can be seen on the image below (date unknown), but after 1977.
