  • (1924) In zilver een gescheiden ankerkruis vergezeld van twaalf vogeltjes zonder pooten of bek zoomsgewijze geplaatst het alles van lazuur.
  • (1987) Gedeeld 1. geschaakt van drie rijen van zilver en van lazuur 2. in zilver een leeuw, ondersteund door een omgekeerd schuingeplaatst anker en vergezeld in de schildvoet van een zespuntige ster, het geheel van sabel.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 22, 1924 and new arms on May 26, 1987.

The current arms show a divided shield with the arms of the Camerlincx-ambacht and the city of Lombardsijde. The main part of the current municipality was historically part of the Camerlincx-ambacht within the Brugse Vrije. The district used a quartered shield, taken from the arms of the Van Grammene family in the 13th century. In 1330 the area was sold to the Counts of Vlaanderen.

The old arms from 1924 were rather different, see below, and are those of the Lords of Raversijde, as the Raversijde estae was near Middelkerke.
