LEME
State : São Paulo
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on December 8, 1976.
The cross and the columns symbolise the first Portuguese navigators who brought Christianity to the area and also symbolise prosperity. The wavy bar symbolises the many rivers in the municipality. The nails are the symbol of St. Manuel, the local patron saint. The dates on the scroll symbolise the day of foundation and of the city rights.
The shield is flanked by cotton and sugar cane branches, the main crops in the region.
