Province : Hainaut
Additions : 1977 Erbaut, Erbisoeul, Herchies, Masnuy-Saint-Jean, Masnuy-Saint-Pierre

Armoiries de Jurbise

Official blazon

De gueules à trois lions d'argent, armés, lampassés et couronnés d'or, accompagnés en coeur de la lettre capitale J d'argent.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 30, 1999.

The three lions are taken from the arms of the Estate of Lens, derived from the arms of the Lords of Lens, from the Gavere family. The three lions were also used by Herchies and Masnuy-Saint-Jean and differed only by the use of the initial letter.

Jurbise already applied in 1965 for arms with the three lions with the letter J, but these were not approved. Only after the merger in 1977, the arms were granted in 1999.
