Origin/meaning
The arms show three towers. The oldest known use of the arms dates from a seal from 1585. During the period that the city was part of the Duchy of Warsaw (1807-1815) the city used no arms on its seals. In the 19th century the city again started to use the three towers. Although the three towers did not change during the centuries, there have been many variations in colours and shapes during the centuries.
