Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on August 25, 1998.
The tower is the local pentagonal tower, which is unique in Portugal. The mountain and the river symbolise the town of Dornes on the green (forested) hills above the Zêzere river. The red cross is the symbol of the Knights Templar, who played a major role in the local history.
I have no background information on the other elements in these arms. Please mail me if you have any additional information.
