Escudo de vermelho, carregado de uma cruz da Ordem de Malta, chapado de prata com duas palmas de verde postas em pala. Coroa mural de prata de três torres. Listel branco com a legenda a negro, em maiúsculas : “ CRATO E MÁRTIRES “.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on April 23, 1997.
The arms show the cross of the Knights of St John of Malta, as the order owned the village for about 6 centuries. The palm leaves symbolise the martyrs, as the local parish is devoted to Our lady of the Martyrs.
