Origin/meaning
The first arms were granted on November 4, 1854 and new arms were granted on February 2, 1982.
The old arms are based on the 18th century seal of the village and show St. Martin, the patron saint, cutting his cloak for a beggar.
After the merger the arms were changed. The new arms show the old arms in the upper half, and the arms of Overmere and UItbergen in the lower half.
