Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 1466 by Wilhelm von Reichenau, Bishop of Eichstätt, as the city at the time was a part of the State of Eichstätt. The arms are canting, showing a rock (Fels) above water (Nass=wet). The crosier is the symbol of the State of Eichstätt. The colours are also those of the State of Eichstätt.
