SANTA CLARA D'OESTE
State : São Paulo
Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on June 21, 1982.
The chequered field represents the division of land in small properties, which favoured a speedy development to the region; the quinquefoils mean "dear daughter" and alludes to Clara, daughter of the founder of the village and the cross evokes the cross erected where a church was later built and also the first Mass celebrated when the village was founded.
The supporters show that cotton and corn are important agricultural products of the region.
The shield is surmounted by a mural crown appropriate to a city and a scroll below the shield bears the name of the city. Literature : Image and background provided by Lauro Ribeiro Escobar, São Paulo.
