Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 14, 1935.

The arms show the bar taken from the arms of the Counts of the Mark, who ruled the area in the medieval times. The rings in the upper half are taken from the arms of the Lords Von Neuhoff, who had their estate in the area. The rings are also part of the arms of Amt-Lüdenscheid. The waves in the base symbolisethe three rivers in the municipality, the Rahmede, Volme and Verse.
