Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 30, 1913 and confirmed on March 1, 1993.
The oldest known seal of the village dates from 1654 and shows a fox, canting for the old name of Rijke Vossel (Vos=fox). In the 18th century the seal showed a triangular shield with three diamonds and the letters R and V. In 1913 this was transformed to a triangle and letters on a shield.
The diamonds are probably derived from the arms of the Lalaing family, who acquired the village in the 16th century. The colours are also derived from Lalaing.
