Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on February 27, 1980.
The cross symbolises the first chapel erected in the area, built in 1891. The bee symbolises the labour of the first settlers. The cogwheels represent industry, the main activity in the city.
The shield is flanked by coffee and sugar cane branches, the main crops in the region.
