SCHAUMBURG-LIPPE (STH)

State : Niedersachsen
Incorporated into : 1978 Schaumburg

Schaumbu.kreis.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted in 1948.

The arms combine the old arms of the Counts of Schaumburg (nettle-leaf) and the Counts of Lippe (rose). The combination of the leaf and rose appears for the first time in 1640 when the Counts of Schaumburg were succeeded by the Counts of Schaumburg in the area. The old Free State of Schaumburg-Lippe also used the same arms.
