Origin/meaning

The arms were registered on March 18, 2003.

The base shows a local hill, Vala, meaning ramparts. In the hill Bronze Age artifacts have been discovered, which are now known as the Věteřov culture. In the 14th century a fortress was built on the hill, which was destroyed in the 16th century and only some ruins remain.

The grape leaves and grapes indicate the importance of viticulture for the municipality.

The red cross and star are on coat of arms of Knights of the Cross with the Red Star (Ordo Militaris Crucigerorum cum Rubea Stella), founded by Agnes of Bohemia in 1238. It symbolizes the gratitude to the Order. After Věteřov parishioners build their own church in 1902, there was a lack of priests in the diocese, so they invited and asked the Order to take care of the church. In 1908 a rectory was built and the first priest of the Order came to Věteřov.
