Origin/meaning

Untergrombach is first mentioned in 1275, in 1311 it became a possession of the Bishops of Speyr. In 1803 it became part of Baden. The oldest known seal dates from 1736 and shows a crowned shield with a bunch of grapes. The same composition was seen in a later 18th century seal. In 1911 the seal was transformed to the arms, in which the crown was added to the shield. The grapes indicate the importance of the viniculture in the municipality. The colours are the colours of Speyr.
