Official blazon
Portuguese Escudo de prata, com um monte de negro, sustendo um castelo de vermelho aberto e iluminado do campo e acompanhado por dois leões de vermelho armados e linguados do mesmo, sustidos no monte, afrontados e sustendo, em chefe, nas mãos, uma quina antiga de Portugal de azul com doze besantes de prata. Em contra-chefe três faixas ondadas, duas de prata e uma de azul. Coroa rural de prata de quatro torres. Listel branco com a legenda de negro : " VILA DE MELGAÇO ".
