Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 20, 1930.

The upper half shows the cross of Köln and the and the key of the Amt Linn, the district of the State of Köln to which the town belonged.

The lower half shows St. Mauritius, patron saint of the local church, holding a shield with the arms of the medieval Lords of Büderich. Although the saint normally is shown as black (Mauritius orginiated from Africa), the arms were granted in silver, as it was at the time not politically correct to show a black saint.

Seal from around 1900

Municipal stationery, 1960s
