Origin/meaning

The arms are canting; Dinkel is a type of grain, Scherben a flower pot. The arms were granted on June 23, 1540 by King Ferdinand I of Bayern. The town belonged to the bishops of Augsburg and since 1430 to the Cathedral Chapter of Augsburg. The colours are taken from the arms of the Chapter. The arms have never changed since 1540.
