Origin/meaning :
The arms were officially granted on February 12, 1982.

The upper part is the initial of the municipality and taken from the old seal of the town. The lower part showing the arms of Franken and Metzelbrunn. Both were taken from the seal of Retzbach. The municipality is situated in Franken and the Metzelbrunn armsa re taken from the arms of Julis Echter von Mespelbrunn, Prince-Bishop of Würzburg, who played an important role in the local history.

The previous arms were granted in 1965 and are based on the former seal of the village. The oldest use of St. Michael, the patron saint of the village, on the local seals dates from 1691. The colours were derived from the colours of the State of Würzburg, to which the village historically belonged until 1803.
