Arms of Žleby

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

Žleby developed around the local royal castle in the 14th century. The small city probably initially used the royal (Bohemian) arms, a silver double tailed and crowned lion on a red field. By decree of August 10, 1697 Jan zu Kaiserstein, Lord of Žleby, granted the arms, augmented with a golden lily from his family arms and changing the colour of the lion to gold. The city later changed the colours back to silver, but the lily remained.
