Origin/meaning :

The sun represents eternity and the pledge of the first settlers to stay in the region which was to be the home of their families forever; the fleur de lys are the attribute of the Blessed Virgin, patron saint of the city and the purple base is canting: Terra Roxa - Purple earth.

The supporters show that coffee and cotton are important agricultural products, of the region.

The shield is surmounted by a mural crown appropriate to a city, and a scroll below the shield bears the name of the city.
