Escudo de prata, nó aberto de corda, de verde, posto em faixa e movente dos flancos. Em chefe, uma cruz de Santiago, de púrpura, acompanhada à dextra de uma roda de indústria, de verde, e à sinistra de um cacho de uvas purpura folhado de verde. Uma conta, duas faixetas ondadas de azul, onde navega uma muleta de negro, realçada de ouro, vestida de vermelho mastreada e encordoada de negro. Coroa mural de cinco torres de prata. Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 16, 1986.

The chief shows the purple cross of the Order of Santiago, which played an important role in the local history. The wheel and the bunch of grapes refer to the industry and agriculture in the region.

The bases shows a local type of ship on the Tagus river. I have no idea about the meaning of the rope.
