Origin/meaning

The arms show the local patron saint, St. Catherine in front of a Gothic church portal. The two small shields show the arms of the Counts of Hohenstein, Lords of the town in the 14th century. The arms first appeared on the local seals in the 14th century during the reign of Count Günter von Hohenstein.
