LABOE

State : Schleswig-Holstein
District (Kreis) : Plön
Amt : Amt Probstei

Laboe.jpg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 8, 1959.

The swan is used as a canting element, as the name Laboe is derived from a Slavic word, probably meaning Place (or Bay) of swans. The anchor is added as a symbol for the importance of shipping in the municipality. It also refers to the memorial of the victims of the Imperial Navy during the Fist World War in the town.
