Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 1st, 1979.

The fish is a canting symbol, it is a corumbatá or corimbatá. The town's name means river of the corumbatá. The river is symbolised by the base of the shield.

The shield is flanked by corn, breans and rice, the main crops in the region.
