Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1961.

The arms are based on a seal dating from 1713. The small shield is the arms of the Counts of Isenburg. They ruled the area from the middle of the 13th century until the end of the 18th century. The cross may be a symbol for the old monastery in the town. The meaning of the square is not known.
