STRZELIN

Province: Dolny Śląsk
County: Strzelin

Coat of arms (crest) of Strzelin
Official blazon
Polish blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms of the city show the local patron saint St. Michael. The oldest known seal of the city dates from 1297 and shows the arms of the Counts of Strelin (two lily-scepters and a star). In 1346 St. Michael appeared on the seals and since the 15th century he is often shown with a flute, sometimes with scales. The basic composition thus did not change, but the colours varied widely during the years.

Only in the 1960s the letter S appeared, together with an arrow (for the historical fame of the city for making bows and arrows).
