Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on March 27, 2001.
The raven is the symbol of St. Vincent, the patron saint of the parish. The cogwheel symbolises the local industries.
The main symbol is a grave monument which was erected during the funeral procession of Queen Santa Mafalda en route to the convent of Arouca.
The base symbolises the Sousa and Cavalum rivers that run through the parish.
