Ingelmunster
Country : Belgium Province : West-Vlaanderen
|
Dutch | In goud een hertenkop van natuurlijke kleur met een gewei van tien punten van keel. |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on January 26, 1849.
The arms are those of the old estate and barony of Ingelmunster. In 1845 the municipality asked for the arms of the last Lords of Ingelmunster, the Van Plotho family. The High Court of Nobility refused, and the municipality asked for the historical arms of the barony, however, the red colour was wrongly described, so the arms were granted with a deer's head proper.
In the 1990s the Flemish Heraldic Council approached the municipality to correct the arms, but the municipality was not interested.
