Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 4, 1955.
Kanegem had no historical seals, so the municipality applied for the arms of the De Preudhomme d'Ailly, Counts of Nieuwpoort and Lords of Poeke. The family were the last owners of the Kanegem Castle.
