WARENDORF (WAF)

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on May 20, 1976.

The arms combine symbols from the arms of the two former districts.

The previous arms were granted on February 1st, 1938.

The district historically belonged to the State of Münster, and the bar in the arms is taken from the arms of Münster. On the bar three flowers are shown, the symbol of the by the bishops appointed governors of Warendorf in the 13th century.
