ÁGUAS DE SANTA BÁRBARA
State : São Paulo
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on April 20, 1976.
The green shield symbolises the wealth of the land. The fountain alludes to the medicinal waters (Águas), which made the municipality famous. The crosses are symbols for Christian faith. The sword and lightning in the base of the shield are the symbols of Santa Barbara, the patron saint of the town. The bar symbolises the Rio Pardo.
The shield is surrounded by the two main agricultural crops in the municipality, corn and rice. The motto "Pretiosum Dei Donum" can be translated as "Precious gift of God". Literature : Image and background provided by Lauro Ribeiro Escobar, São Paulo.
