Official blazon
Shield - Partido de azul, o primeiro uma meia águia de ouro, bicada, lampassada, sancada e armada de vermelho, movente da partição do escudo, o segundo com um castelo de prata, lavrado, aberto e iluminado de negro.
Motto - Num listel de branco, sotoposto ao escudo, em letras de estilo elzevir, maiúsculas, de negro: ««COM MILITAR ENGENHO E SUTIL ARTE»».
Crown - É de ouro, constituído por um aro liso com virolas nos bordos superior e inferior, encimado por oito pontas, das quais cinco aparentes. A ponta central e as laterais são encimadas por duas asas de
águia estendidas. As pontas intermédias são encimadas por cruzes de Cristo."
Origin/meaning
Castle - Allusion to Beja where the base is located. Eagle - Represents the Air Force, the movement from the partition of the shield alludes to the mobility of the armament from the Base. Moto - « COM MILITAR ENGENHO E SUTIL ARTE » Roughly translated to "With military engenuity and subtle art" take from the book Lusíadas, cant VIII verse 89, to express the capability of the Unit. Aeronautical Crown - Universal symbol of the Portuguese Air Force. Silver - Signifies the fidelity and humility. Blue - The air and space and also zeal and loyalty. The Banner on the corners has the initials "BA511 for "Base Aérea 11", portuguese for Air Base Nº 11. Note: On the CoA of the Commander the crest is an Eagle, this crest was taken from the CoA of Gonçalo Mendes da Maia, the medieval knight who conquered the city of Beja, honoring the figure of the knight.
