Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on October 13, 1976.
The stars are canting, Estrela d'Oeste, means Star of the West. The fleur-de-lis are the symbol of St. Mary, patron saint of the city.
The shield is flanked by coffee and corn, the main crops in the region.
