De gueules à une licorne assise, laqueue relvée sur le flac senestre, d'argent. L'écu supporté par deux lions d'or armé et lampassés de gueules, le tout placé sur un manteau de gueules doublé d'hermine, frangé et attaché d'or, surmonté de la couronne ducale.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 15, 1949.

These are the complete arms of François Franeau de Hyon, Count of Gommegnies. The family Franeau de Gommegnies ruled the village from 1577-1794. The arms were based on an 18th century seal found in the archives in Mons. The unicorn is the original symbol used by the family.
