Origin/meaning

The oldest seal dates from the early 15th century and already shows a tower with the small shield of the Wittelsbach family, as Dukes of Bayern. All seals until the late 18th century all showed the same composition. In 1819 the tower was placed on a shield and the small shield was taken from the gate to a slightly higher position on the tower, the gate disappeared.
