Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on January 24, 2002.
The cloak is a typical image of a traditional costume of Horta. The book refers to the culture and services, alluding to the fact that some major cultural establishments and various public services of local government are located in the parish.
The scales refer to trade, the main economic activity of the parish. The base represents the Atlantic Ocean.
