SIILINJÄRVI

Region : Pohjois-Savo
Former province : 1997-2009 Itä-Suomi (until 1997 Kuopio)

Siilinjärvi Kuntavaakuna / Kommunvapen

Official blazon

Mustassa kentässä kaksi kassaraa (vesuria) vinoristikkäin, niiden alapuolella saaneena vesilehvä; kaikki kultaa.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 17, 1956.

The two knives are a canting symbol (kassara) for the old name of the parish, Kasurila. The water lily leaf in the base of the arms symbolises the -järvi part of the name, which means lake.
