Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 19, 2000.
The arms show the local bridge, a typical landmark for the town. The base represents the different rivers in the municipality, the Rio Ave, Rio Mamoa, Rio Covelas and Rio Aldeia.
The chief shows symbols for agriculture and industry.
