Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 23, 1993.

The fountains refer to the several mineral fountains found in the city and the cross was taken from the coat of arms of the Pinto family evoking the founder of the city, Januario Pinto.

The tomato shrubs, supporters of the shield, allude to the many orchards and vegetable cultivation in the region.

The shield is surmounted by a mural crown appropriate to a city, and a scroll below the shield bears the name of the city.
