VALENTIM GENTIL
State : São Paulo
Portuguese | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 3, 1980.
The crescent evokes the first name of the village, Jacilândia; Jaci means moon in Indian language. The wavy bar represents the São Jose dos Dourados river, which flows near the city. The ermine bordure stands for high dignities, alluding to Valentim Gentil, once Chairman of the State's Legislative Assembly, whose name was taken by the city.
The supporters show that cotton and coffee are important agricultural products of the region.
The shield is surmounted by a mural crown appropriate to a city and a scroll below the shield bears the name of the city.
