Official blazon
- (1969) Van goud met twee ruggelings afgewende leeuwen van keel, gewapend en getongd van azuur, de staarten schuinkruiswijs; het schild getopt met een helm van zilver, getralied, gehalsband en omboord van goud, gevoerd en gehecht van keel, met wrong en dekkleden van goud en van keel. Helmteken: twee hindenvoeten van natuurlijke kleur, de voorhoeven naar omhoog en links gekeerd.
- (1984) Doorsneden 1. in goud twee afgewende leeuwen van keel, geklauwd en getongd van lazuur, de staarten schuingekruist 2. in lazuur drie Sint-Antoniuskrukken van goud.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on June 10, 1969 and the new arms on December 3, 1984.
The current arms combine the lions of the old arms with the Tau-crosses of the old arms of Schellebelle.
The old arms are those of the De Cordes family, who acquired the village in 1614 and owned it until the end of the 18th century.
The village never used the family arms on its seal, but used a seal with the local patron saint, St. Gertrudis of Nivelles.
