89th Infantry Division Rolling W Division, US Army
History:Activated 5 August 1917 as 89th Division. Organized 13 August 1917 at Camp Funston (Kansas) and inactivated at the same location on 12 June 1919. Assigned on 24 June 1921 to the Organized Reserve. Re-designated 89th Division on 22 February 1942 and activated 15 July 1942. Reorganized at Camp Carson (Colorado) and re-designated 89th Infantry Division 1 August 1942. Reorganized 1 August 1943 as the 89th Light Division (Truck), reverted to the 89th Infantry Division on 15 June 1944. Inactivated 17 December 1945 at Camp Shanks (New York). Reactivated in the Reserve in 1947 and inactivated in 1973.
