History: Constituted as 97 Communications Squadron, Bombardment, Medium, on 28 May 1948. Activated on 12 Jul 1948. Redesignated as 97 Communications Squadron on 16 Mar 1950. Inactivated on 10 Feb 1951. Activated on 14 Feb 1952. Inactivated on 16 Jun 1952. Consolidated (1 Sep 1991) with the 2101 Communications Squadron, which was designated, and organized, on 1 Jan 1965. Redesignated as: 2101 Information Systems Squadron on 1 Jul 1984; 2101 Communications Squadron on 1 Nov 1986; 97 Communications Squadron on 1 Sep 1991. Inactivated on 1 Jun 1992. Activated on 1 Oct 1992.
