Archdiocese of Cincinnati
ARCHIDIOECESIS CINCINNATENSIS Country: Denomination: Established:
|
English | Or, a plow between three crosses botonny fitchy gules. |
Origin/meaning
The name of the diocese is xymbolised by the plow of Cincinnatus, the Roman patrician farmer after whom Cincinnati was named. The plow is placed in the center of the field, in which are also three crosses to symbolize the Catholic Faith as being sown and cultivated in the archdiocese.
Red and gold being the heraldic colors of the arms ascribed to St. Peter, patron of the Cathedral of the archdiocese.
