BUILDING SOCIETIES INSTITUTE OF SOUTHERN AFRICA
Afrikaans |
Wapen: Gedeel van silwer en blou, 'n regopgeplaaste dubbelgebaarde sleutel en 'n skildhoof gegewel van drie, van die een in die ander. |
English |
Arms: Per pale Argent and Azure, a double-warded key erect and a chief gably of three, all counterchanged. |
Origin/meaning
The chief triple-gabled symbolises building. The Key is the proverbial Key to the Home. The Supporters are African Hornbills. The Habit of these Birds is for the Male to mason the Female into nest in a hollow three trunk, for protection, leaving only a hole big enough to feed her, until she has hatched and raised their chicks.
